Curious about handbuilding? Looking for a creative outlet where you can explore, experiment, and surprise yourself? Handbuilding for Beginners with Liz is a well-rounded, beginner and intermediate friendly class that focuses on building confidence and skill through handbuilding techniques—with a gentle introduction to the wheel along the way.

We’ll start with the essentials: learning to shape clay by hand through pinch pots, moving into structured projects using the slab roller, extruder, molds, and other studio tools. As the session progresses, you’ll explore combining these forms, experiment with surface design, and even try your hand at basic wheel throwing if you’re interested.

This class is about more than just technique—it’s about helping students feel proud of what they create. You’ll leave with a variety of functional and decorative pieces and a better understanding of how to work with clay from start to finish.

Whether you’re brand new to pottery or building on what you learned in a previous session, this is a great space to keep learning and growing. Liz’s supportive and engaging approach will guide you every step of the way.

Note: All classes need to run with a minimum of 5 students and may be cancelled due to low enrollment numbers.  If the classes are cancelled you will be reimbursed your class fees. There will be no refunds, unless the class is cancelled. If an Instructor cancels a class (due to illness or emergency) the Instructor will schedule a make-up session at a mutually agreed-upon time.
