General Membership Information
Openings in the Guild are limited by the size of our space. Membership is open to any adult (18+) resident in the Province of Alberta, with priority given to those who have been a past member in good standing within the last five years and/or have or are currently taking pottery classes from the Devon Pottery Guild in Devon.
Available spaces are assigned when space is available.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to reapply each year as required. Please retain a copy of your completed, dated form. If your application has not been confirmed by the end of June, you will need to reapply for the following year. Please reapply before the specified deadline dates as noted on the Membership Application for each term within the year as the Guild does not keep your previous application. Also ensure you note the date of any previous applications in the comment section.
Applications are not kept once the selections are made for the year.
Please note that the cost of membership is reviewed annually and subject to change as determined by the Devon Pottery Guild Executive.
Thank you for your interest in the Devon Pottery Guild.
Obligations of Membership
Some high-level expectations of our members are listed below. Prospective members should read the full membership handbook, available online as a PDF.
- Regular attendance at general meetings which are held quarterly on the 3rd Saturday of month. The dates are set in advance and subject to change when required, plus an Annual General meeting in January of each year.
- Active participation in Guild operations and Studio housekeeping duties.
- Volunteer participation in Guild activities, projects and sales.
- It is our goal as a Guild to foster a creative space for potters of varying skill levels and interests, with a sharing of knowledge and camaraderie.
- Volunteerism & mentorship are an important part of that environment. We offer instruction through organized class sessions throughout the year and may offer workshops or mini sessions when possible.
Although the Devon Pottery Guild operates independently within the Town of Devon as non-profit organization we strive to work together within our own organization and the local community. This is enshrined in our Constitution and Bylaws, which we make available online as a PDF.
